Mentoring for Equality - STEM Passport for Inclusion

I’m thrilled to have completed my role as a mentor in the STEM Passport for Inclusion Programme, where I had the privilege of supporting an incredible group of secondary school students from disadvantaged schools on their journey towards a STEM university qualification 🎓

The experience has been wonderfully rewarding. I had a very engaged group of students who shared their hopes and dreams for the future, and their thoughts about STEM. It was a both a privilege and a joy to work with them and hopefully inspire them to believe in themselves and their potential in STEM.

As a mentor, I had the opportunity to build my skills through the Mentoring for Equality training, while also helping the students grow and learn. It was a very positive and affirming experience that opened my eyes and helped me understand the difficulties and challenges many face, and the need for inclusive education. Honestly, I think I got more out of the programme than the students did!

If you’re passionate about shaping the future of hashtag#STEM and supporting the next generation of leaders, I highly recommend getting involved as a mentor! The commitment is about 12 hours - 6 hours for training and approximately 6 hours for mentoring and support - it is an opportunity to make an impact and also gain valuable mentoring experience.

Thank you Katriona O'SullivanKalyn Potter, @Isabel Meza, Maynooth University and all the team involved with STEM Passport for Inclusion for a wonderful experience.

If you're interested in becoming a mentor or want to learn more, get it touch with hashtag#STEMPInc (email or DM their page)
